Week 12 Blog post
What did you learn this week?
This week, I learned about experiments I can conduct for future students so they can construct an understanding of the matter. The matter is complex, but in this experiment, we broke up certain parts of matter in each object into certain topics. Sink or float, volume, mass, magnetic, and electric. For each object, we conducted an experiment to answer each topic, so that in the future students can visually observe the phenomenon.
How can apply what I learned to what I already know?
I remember as a kid conducting experiments to see if objects sank or floated, if an object was magnetic, and if an object was electric. What I learned this week is how to make sense of why an object floats vs. sinks, why an object has electricity, and why an object is magnetic, so I can teach that phenomenon to students. I learned that mass is a factor as to why an object floats. Additionally, we took notes based on the object and how it reacted to each element.
What questions do you still have?
A question I still have is why is wax magnetic? Our wax stuck to the magnet multiple times, but why is it magnetic? What materials are inside wax to make it magnetic.
