What did you do in the lab today? Today in the lab, we created the four examples of what happens at plate boundaries. The Graham crackers/rice cakes act as a plate, and the whipped cream is magma. We conducted four examples of what happens to plates when they collide, sink, or spread apart. I learned that the Appalachian mountains were once connected to mountains in Africa, but the Appalachian mountains experience more erosion, so they are shorter in height than the mountain range in Africa.
