Week 4: Our Solar System

  1. What did you do in the lab today? Today in lab, we created a Solar System that is to scale and relative to each other. Our sun was 300 milimeters, and our solar system was based on that.

  2. What was the big question? What does a scale model of the solar system look like?
  3. What did you learn in Thursday’s discussion? This week, we learned that
  1. What did you learn?  The four inner planets- Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are rocky because they have a solid surface. The four other planets are gaseous, mainly composed of hydrogen and helium.
  2. What was most helpful? I liked how we were given a scale model to show us how each planet compares to eachother. Also, I think it is really helpful when there are words that are not popular, so we can click on the word and find out the definition.
  3. What do you need more information on? How did the gas clouds of the four inner planets blow away? Are the gas clouds created by the sun the gaseous planets?

5. What questions, concerns, and/or comments do you have?

N/A
